We are a friendly, inclusive group looking for artists who are enthusiastic about their art, who want to join a like-minded group of artists, and who are willing to make a positive contribution to the group. Because of the nature of MAG and how it works, we do not offer membership to beginners or those whose work is not of a sufficient or acceptable standard.

If you wish to apply for membership, we have a clear process for potential new members to follow.

The Process

1. Use the contact page on this website to indicate your interest.

2. A member of our committee will contact you to arrange a visit to one of our Monday studio sessions.

3. You prepare a portfolio of your artwork to show to the committee on your arrival. This should comprise at least three finished paintings or drawings, and/or a portfolio demonstrating your skill development in your chosen media.

4. On arrival you will receive a friendly welcome. We understand that applicants may be rather apprehensive and so we endeavour to be encouraging. While the committee peruses your artwork, you will be invited to mingle and chat with our members so you can gain a feeling for the group and how things work at studio sessions. This part of the process is as much about how you see yourself fitting into the group as it is about the committee viewing your artwork.

5. The committee will let you know on the same day whether your artwork is of a sufficient and acceptable standard for you to be offered membership. You will then be provided with the necessary forms to complete and return to us asap.

6. We have a ceiling on the number of members we can have in the group. In the event our membership list is full you will be advised accordingly, and your name will go on our waiting list. We will then contact you when a vacancy occurs.
