Maggie Turner’s father, a Dublin plumber whose real love was sketching and watercolour, introduced her to painting at a very young age. She began working with pastels before changing to oils. Eventually Maggie settled on acrylic as her preferred medium.
She now attends three different art groups each week, and is studying to develop and hone her skills. Maggie has been on the exhibition committee of MAG, and has taken on the role of exhibition co-ordinator for 2016.
Maggie says she finds painting enjoyable , often challenging, but always rewarding. Family travel always includes visits to art galleries and exhibitions, a favourite gallery being the Dali museum in Figeures, Spain.
She also says “ Painting transports me into another world where time ceases to exist. It’s a world of colour and expression, with infinite variety. I’d advise anyone to give it a go. They might be pleasantly surprised!”
