Jean Stewart Beddison

Jean was born in the lake district, in the UK, where she studied at Carlisle School of Art and Goldsmith College of London.

During W.R.A.F. service Jean worked on stage and set and design. She displayed in London, winning prizes at congress Hall, the Royal Exchange and Kent.

Moving back to the lake district, Jean staged many shows in Keswick with paintings which typified this area she knows and loves. Here Jean qualified to teach art. In 1988 she moved to South Australia to join her family. She travelled annually interstate to the Great Australian Craft Show. In 2000, Jean moved back to the lake district, where she continued to paint and teach art. In 2011 Jean returned to Adelaide to be with her family.

Jean paints prolifically, featuring Australian and English scenes, and studies of animals, birds and wild flowers, using media of watercolour, pen and wash and oils.
