Anne Bates

Anne has always been interested in painting. Although she worked as a secretary, she painted constantly in her spare time.

Anne says, ‘I feel as if I have been painting all my life, at least fifty years of it anyway.’
After retiring from the work force Anne became more involved with her art. She has held twelve solo exhibitions, and won two first place awards for watercolour in Rotary exhibitions. For fifteen years Anne ran the Butchers Hook gallery at Glenelg which she says was great fun ‘and sometimes felt like a real job.’

Anne says Art is a great escape for her, with there always being the chance of creating something special.
